The Five Major Contributors to Low Voltage
Think of Them as Resistors
In an electrical circuit, resistance impedes current and contributes to a voltage drop. Tennant uses a similar concept when looking at the body’s electrical circuits.
The question becomes: Where is the resistance? Is it emotional? Dental? A scar? Toxic burden? A lack of the raw materials needed to maintain normal physiology? Sometimes there may be more than one.

How Can Emotions Affect Body Voltage?
Emotional stress does not exist only as a thought. Fear, anger, grief, shame, resentment, trauma, and chronic stress can produce real changes in the nervous system and physiology.
Within Tennant’s voltage framework, unresolved emotional stress can also act as a resistor within the body’s energetic circuits. This connects naturally to the energetic work I use at VIGEO.
What Do Teeth Have to Do With Body Voltage?
Within Dr. Jerry Tennant’s framework, individual teeth are associated with acupuncture meridians. Tennant proposes that dental infections and root-canaled teeth can interfere with voltage along the corresponding circuit.
That means the location of a chronic symptom may not necessarily be the only place worth investigating. A dental issue along the same meridian may also be relevant within Tennant’s framework.
Can Scars Interfere With an Electrical Circuit?
Tennant teaches that scars can sometimes interfere with the electrical flow through a meridian, particularly when a scar crosses the pathway of that circuit. This may include surgical scars, injury scars, C-section scars, abdominal scars, joint-surgery scars, and other significant scar tissue.
Tattoos may also be considered within this framework because of both tissue disruption and substances introduced into the skin. The useful question is not whether every scar creates a problem; it is whether a particular scar may be relevant when looking at a pattern.

How Can Toxins Affect Body Voltage?
Toxic exposures may interfere with normal physiology in many ways, including enzyme function, oxidative balance, mitochondrial function, mineral relationships, and cellular signaling. Within Tennant’s model, toxic burden can also interfere with the body’s ability to maintain healthy voltage.
This is where the voltage framework connects strongly to the rest of VIGEO: heavy metals, environmental and chemical exposures, and other toxicants are questions worth measuring rather than simply guessing about.
Why Do Micronutrients Matter for Voltage?
Cells do not create and maintain electrical gradients out of nothing. Normal electrical and electrochemical function depends on nutrients and minerals involved in membrane potentials, ion gradients, mitochondrial function, ATP production, enzyme activity, antioxidant systems, nerve signaling, muscle contraction, and cellular repair.
Minerals such as magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, copper, zinc, selenium, and others participate in processes that affect cellular function and energy production. This is one of the places where Tennant’s voltage model intersects particularly well with my work in mineral assessment.
What About Cancer, Viruses, Parasites, and Chronic Illness?
Within Dr. Tennant’s Healing Is Voltage model, chronically low voltage creates an environment in which normal repair and cellular function become increasingly difficult. Tennant connects this low-voltage environment with chronic illness, infection, impaired healing, and cancer. This is part of Tennant’s framework, rather than a statement of universal established physiology.
How Do You Increase Body Voltage?
Once we have identified things that may lower voltage, the natural next question is: what helps increase it?

Questions About Low Body Voltage
What lowers body voltage?
Dr. Jerry Tennant’s framework groups five major contributors to low voltage: emotions, dental infections and root canals, scars and tattoos, toxins, and lack of micronutrients.
Can emotions lower body voltage?
Within Tennant’s energetic framework, unresolved emotional stress may act as resistance within the body’s circuits. Emotional stress can also affect nervous-system physiology in established ways.
Can a root canal affect a meridian?
Tennant proposes that dental issues may interfere with the voltage of the corresponding acupuncture meridian. Body Meridians explains the related framework.
Can heavy metals affect cellular energy?
Heavy metals and other toxic exposures can raise questions about enzyme function, oxidative balance, mitochondria, mineral relationships, and cellular signaling. OligoScan gives VIGEO another way to look at mineral and heavy-metal patterns rather than simply guessing.
What minerals are important for electrical function?
Magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, copper, zinc, selenium, and other nutrients participate in processes involved in cellular electrical and electrochemical function.
