How is AOD 9604 dosed?
| Vial size | 5 mg |
| Reconstitute with | 160 ticks (1.5 CC) |
| Doses per vial | 10 to 16 |
| Dose | 300 to 500 mcg daily |
| On the syringe | 10 ticks = 300 mcg |
| Route | Subcutaneous |
| Timing | Morning, before eating |
| Duration | May take for several months consecutively |
Why before eating. Same principle as the other growth hormone peptides: food, particularly carbohydrate, interferes with the pathway. Morning on an empty stomach gets the most out of the dose.

What is AOD 9604?
AOD stands for Advanced Obesity Drug. It is a fragment of the growth hormone molecule, representing roughly 8% of the whole, isolated because that fragment carries the fat-targeting effect.
The point of using a fragment rather than the whole molecule is what it leaves behind. AOD 9604 does not carry the typical growth hormone side effects, and specifically does not impact blood sugar levels or cell growth.
That is a meaningful distinction. Growth hormone and its releasing peptides raise IGF-1, which matters for anyone with a cancer history, and they affect glucose metabolism, which matters for diabetics. AOD 9604 was designed to sidestep both.
Reported benefits
- Targets stubborn fat
- Improves bone health
- Improves general wellbeing
- Good add-on to other weight loss strategies
- Does not impact blood sugar levels or cell growth
The "add-on" framing is the honest one. This is not positioned as a standalone answer.
Side effects
May cause upset stomach, headaches, and pain or swelling at the injection site.

Where this fits against the other growth hormone peptides
| AOD 9604 | Ipamorelin / Tesamorelin | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A fragment of GH itself | Peptides that trigger your own GH release |
| Raises IGF-1 | No | Yes |
| Affects blood sugar | No | Yes, monitor |
| Main target | Fat, bone | Muscle, sleep, recovery, fat |
If the concern is IGF-1 elevation or glucose effects, AOD 9604 is the one in this group designed around those problems.
Sourcing and quality
Peptides sold outside compounding pharmacies are labelled "Not For Human Consumption and For Research Use Only." Always ask for batch-specific third-party testing.

Test your foundations first
Fat metabolism runs on mineral-dependent enzymes, and bone health, which is one of the stated benefits, depends on calcium, magnesium, boron and vitamin D working in relationship rather than isolation.

What this page does not tell you
- AOD 9604 is not an approved medication. It went through clinical development as an obesity treatment and did not reach approval.
- Clinical trial results were mixed. The compound is mechanistically interesting and the human efficacy data is weaker than the mechanism suggests. Worth knowing before assuming it will do a great deal on its own.
- "Good add-on" is the accurate framing, and it is Dawn's own.
- Long-term safety data does not exist.
- Competitive athletes: check the current WADA prohibited list.

Questions and Answers
Q: How is AOD 9604 dosed? A: 300 to 500 mcg daily, given subcutaneously in the morning before eating. Ten ticks on an insulin syringe is 300 mcg. A 5 mg vial reconstituted with 160 ticks provides 10 to 16 doses. It may be taken for several months consecutively.
Q: What is AOD 9604? A: A fragment of the growth hormone molecule, roughly 8% of it, isolated because that portion carries the fat-targeting effect. AOD stands for Advanced Obesity Drug. Using the fragment rather than the whole molecule avoids the typical growth hormone side effects.
Q: Does AOD 9604 affect blood sugar? A: No. Unlike growth hormone and growth hormone releasing peptides, AOD 9604 does not impact blood sugar levels or cell growth. That is the main reason the fragment was isolated rather than using the whole molecule.
