German New Medicine: An Alternative View on the Origins of Cancer

In 1978, Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer faced the devastating loss of his son Dirk, who died after an accidental shooting. Just three months later, Dr. Hamer was diagnosed with testicular cancer. This prompted a powerful realization: could the trauma of losing his son have triggered his illness?

At the time, Dr. Hamer was working in oncology at the Munich Cancer Hospital. Intrigued, he began interviewing his cancer patients to see if they too had experienced emotional trauma before their diagnoses. To his surprise, every patient reported a profoundly shocking event prior to falling ill.

This discovery led him to propose the "Dirk Hamer Syndrome"—a theory that intense emotional shocks could directly influence physical health. He expanded this into a broader framework known as the Five Biological Laws, the foundation of what he called German New Medicine.

Naturally, his ideas faced fierce resistance. Dr. Hamer's medical license was revoked, he was tried in court, jailed twice, and even faced attempts on his life.

Ironically, during his 1997 trial, a public prosecutor examined 6,500 of his patient files—intending to disprove his theories. Instead, the data revealed something shocking: 6,000 of those patients, many with terminal cancer, were still alive five years later—a survival rate of over 90%.

Compare this to the survival rates of conventional treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, which remain below 3% and have shown little improvement over the decades.

The Five Biological Laws from German New Medicine

  • Every disease begins with a sudden, unexpected emotional shock—affecting the psyche, brain, and corresponding organ simultaneously.

  • All diseases follow a two-phase process: a stress phase followed by a healing phase (if the conflict is resolved).

  • The nature of the disease is determined by the organ's embryonic germ layer and its associated brain region.

  • Microbes are not enemies; they assist in healing during the resolution phase.

  • Diseases are not errors—they are intelligent biological responses meant to help us adapt and survive emotional conflicts.

Bottom Line: According to German New Medicine, cancer’s growth phase often occurs during healing, not illness. If undisturbed, the body will resolve it naturally. Most cancer-related deaths, according to Hamer, are due to complications from treatments or the trauma of diagnosis itself—both of which can trigger further biological conflicts.
