ARA-290: How It's Dosed and Why Handling Matters More Than Usual

ARA-290 supports nerve repair and regeneration, reduces neuroinflammation, and may improve small fiber density, while modulating immune signalling without raising hematocrit. It is dosed at 1.25 mg daily, subcutaneously, in cycles of four to eight weeks. Unlike most peptides it must be reconstituted with buffered phosphate solution at pH 7.4, not bacteriostatic water.

Read this before you buy anything

ARA-290 must be reconstituted with Buffered Phosphate Solution (pH 7.4), at room temperature.

This is not optional and it is not the same as bacteriostatic water. ARA-290 is more delicate than typical peptides and degrades with improper pH or handling. Reconstitute it with the wrong solution and you have wasted the vial.

You need to purchase the buffered pH water separately. Here is one example.

Refrigerate after mixing.

A client experience with ARA-290 and SS-31

One client who had been exploring support for diabetic side effects, peripheral neuropathy, and low energy experimented with drawing ARA-290 and SS-31 into the same syringe. They reported that pairing SS-31 with ARA-290 helped lessen the injection discomfort they experienced with ARA-290, and they valued the combination because SS-31 is used in the context of mitochondrial health.

What is ARA-290?

An erythropoietin-derived peptide, sometimes called cibinetide. It was developed specifically to separate the tissue-protective effects of EPO from its effect on red blood cell production.

That separation is the point. It modulates immune signalling and supports nerve repair without increasing hematocrit, which is what makes it usable where EPO itself would not be.

What is it studied for?

  • Supports nerve repair and regeneration
  • Reduces neuroinflammation
  • May improve small fiber density
  • Modulates immune signalling without increasing hematocrit

Where this connects to the mineral work

Small fiber neuropathy is the exact symptom picture covered in Part 8 of the chelation series: burning feet, buzzing, patches of numbness, sensations that are hard to describe.

That article makes the case that mercury disrupts thiamine-dependent enzymes so nerves cannot metabolise fuel properly. ARA-290 approaches the same territory from a different angle: supporting repair and reducing neuroinflammation.

Neither is a substitute for finding out what is causing it. Diabetes, B12 deficiency, thyroid dysfunction and compression are all more common causes of neuropathy than anything discussed here, and all need ruling out with a physician first.

Generally well tolerated. Mild injection site irritation. Occasional headache.

Sourcing and quality

Peptides sold outside compounding pharmacies are labelled "Not For Human Consumption and For Research Use Only." Always ask for batch-specific third-party testing. If it is not available, go elsewhere.

Test your foundations first

Nerve repair runs on thiamine, B12, magnesium and the enzymes they activate. ARA-290 signals for repair; those are the materials repair is built from.

There is a second reason to test here. If a metal burden is what is interfering with nerve metabolism in the first place, supporting repair while the interference continues is working against a headwind.

What this page does not tell you

  • ARA-290 is not an approved medication. It is investigational, sold as a research compound.
  • Neuropathy requires diagnosis first. Diabetes, B12 deficiency, thyroid disease, spinal compression and medication effects are all more common causes and several need prompt treatment.
  • Diabetics should involve their physician, both because neuropathy management is part of diabetes care and because nothing here replaces glycaemic control.
  • Clinical trial data exists but is limited, mostly in sarcoidosis-related small fiber neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy.
  • Long-term safety data does not exist.

Questions and Answers

Q: How is ARA-290 dosed? A: 1.25 mg daily, given subcutaneously, which is 25 ticks on an insulin syringe. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 200 units of buffered phosphate solution provides 8 doses. The typical cycle is four to eight weeks, after which the response is reassessed.

Q: What do you reconstitute ARA-290 with? A: Buffered Phosphate Solution at pH 7.4, at room temperature, not bacteriostatic water. ARA-290 is more delicate than typical peptides and degrades with improper pH or handling. It is both pH and temperature sensitive, and should be refrigerated after mixing.

Q: What is ARA-290 used for? A: It supports nerve repair and regeneration, reduces neuroinflammation, and may improve small fiber density. It modulates immune signalling without increasing hematocrit, which distinguishes it from erythropoietin itself. The main interest is in peripheral and small fiber neuropathy, including in diabetes.
