Learning Styles

I was giving a friend directions to my house one day, and I started to pull up a map to show her where it was located. She said, “No, just tell me verbally turn by turn, I learn best by hearing things, not seeing them.”

In my head a lightbulb went off about our differences, because I can’t learn like that at all! I want to see it written down. Through my research I’ve realized that I also learn really well by reading and writing…hence the reason for this VIGEO newsletter!

There are three primary learning styles; Visual, Auditory and Tactile.  Secondary learning styles include Reading and Writing, Kinesthetic, Intrapersonal, Logic, and Solitary.  Some people use a combination of learning styles, whereas others benefit from mainly just one. Not sure what yours is? Take this quiz to find out!

  • Kinesthetic: This style involves physical movement and interaction with the environment. Kinesthetic learners prefer hands-on activities, physical movement, and practical lessons.

  • Visual: This style involves learning new information when it's presented with graphics and colors.

  • Auditory: This style involves learning information best by listening to it.

  • Reading and writing: This style involves learning more efficiently by reading and writing down what you've learned.

  • Interpersonal: This style involves learning best when you're able to relate to others and work in group situations.

  • Logic: This style involves learning information by locking different patterns and connecting the dots that make proper sense.

  • Solitary: This style involves learning through self-study methods

Bottom Line?  Knowing the style where you learn best will help you retain information with less effort and struggle.
